Shukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve is protected area in the far western region of Nepal. It is one of the reserved areas in lowland area of Terai region. Long time ago the region was famous among royal families for hunting. Shukla Phanta Wildlife reserve is home for many protected species. Currently there are 46 mammal species identified in the reserve and 18 of them are protected under CITES. These protected species includes the Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, sloth bear, swamp deer, elephant, hispid hare etc. Sometime ago few one horned rhinos were also taken to Shukla Phanta Wildlife reserve. The reserve is also home for more than 400 types of birds like Bengal Floricans, Swamp Francolin, Jerdon's Bushchat, Rufous-rumped Grassbird, Chestnut-capped Babbler, Jerdon's Babbler.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmadu, transfer to Hotel, cultural dinner at typical Nepali restaurant in the evening
Day 02: Visit Swyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath and Kathmandu Durbar Square, preparation of the trip
Day 03: Fly to Dhangadhi, drive to wildlife reserve
Day 04: Elephant back safari and a short jungle walk.
Day 05: Jungle walk and bird watching at the reserve
Day 06: Morning activities if time permits and drive to Dhangadhi, fly back to Kathmandu
Day 07: Departure from Kathmandu
