Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to Hotel (1310M or 4,297FT)

Welcome to the city of temples and the country of Himalayas. Himalayan Leisure Inc. will happily welcome you at the only international airport of Nepal; Tribhuvan International Airport. Our airport representative will be waiting for your arrival with a placard written Himalayan Leisure Inc. outside the airport terminal. From there you will be transferred to the Hotel by a air conditioned private vehicle. Depending on the flight time and activities we will be joining for a cultural dinner at a typical Nepali restaurant. Enjoy cultural shows, singing, dancing and typical Nepali meals before heading back to hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley, preparation of the trek

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before we arrange a short meeting with your tour guide. Enjoy the beauty of Kathmandu valley around some of the world heritage sites. During the day you will be visiting some of the most important, culturally and historically significant places of the town. Swyambhunath; the Buddhist Stupa, Pashupatinath; highly sacred Hindu temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square; formal royal palace during ancient period and Bouddhanath; one of the biggest Buddhist pagoda are included in the sightseeing. Followed by trip meeting and meeting with your trekking guide we will give you some free time to enjoy the nightlife and beauty of Thamel. (Breakfast)

Day 03: Drive to Dhulikhel, explore around Dhulikhel (1,450M / 1.5 Hours Drive)

We will have a breakfast at our hotel in Kathmandu before we commence our pleasuring countryside drive to Dhulikhel. It is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Kathamandu, about 35 KM far. Dhulikhel is one of the most popular hill stations near Kathmandu valley offering stunning views of Himalayas. The drive takes us via beautiful villages staying in touch with Kathmandu valley but still culturally rich and unspoiled. On the way we will make a visit to Sanga to see the tallest Shiva statue in Asia. We will then continue to Dhulikhel via another town called Banepa. Finally, we will reach Dhulikhel and will walk around the town to stretch our legs and to explore around Dhulikhel. (Breakfast)

Day 04: Trek to Balthali (1,750M) via Namo Buddha (1,980M / 6.5 Hours)

We will enjoy our breakfast with cold wind of Dhulikhel before starting our trek to Balthali. The trail is very relaxing taking us via local villages situated near the towns. The walk is so much fun with occasional glimpse of Himalayas, rice paddies, never stopping vehicles in the distance and green forests. The first part of the trek takes us to Namo Buddha; one of the popular picnic stops for locals of Kathmandu and around. Situated in the east of Kathmandu valley mixed with thundering streams and rivers, evergreen beautiful forests and terraced rice paddies, green hills and plateaus, won't look more beautiful than a canvas of a painter. Namo Buddha is a religious Buddhist pilgrimage site. We probably stop in Namo Buddha for awhile before walking 3.5 hours to reach Balthali. We will stay overnight in a resort of Balthali village. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 05: Exploration day around Balthali village (1,750M), do local activities

Sleeping in a place like Balthali will make us not to wake up, but have thing to do. We will take mouth watering breakfast at the resort before we start our exploration day. We will start our day with a hike to a joint river where will see a traditional water mill and Ladkeshowr Temple inside a cave. We will continue our walk to Nepane village to experience some traditional Tammang cultures. Nepane village is a village of Tamang people influenced by Tibetan people and their rich culture. We will then proceed down to Ladku river then finally return back to resort. We will spend rest of our day exploring around the resort and enjoy the views around. We will probably have some chances for camp fire in the evening. (Breakfast)

Day 06: Trek to Panauti (1,340M) and drive back to Kathmandu (5.5 Hours Trek + 1 Hour + Drive)

We are coming to an end of our pleasuring holiday. We will enjoy our breakfast in the hotel then walk down to Panauti village. Panauti village is also a popular village near Kathmandu inhabited by Newar People. Our walk today is pretty relaxing and nothing in hurry. We will reach Panauti around early afternoon. Panauti has several Hindu temples made in ancient period. People come from different regions to pray for their wishes and good luck in this temple. After stopping for a lunch in Panauti we will then proceed to Kathmandu for ending our memorable holiday to Panauti. (Breakfast, Complimentary Farewell Dinner)

Day 07: Departure from Kathmandu

Here we come to the end of our memorable a week long trip. We will conclude our Langtang Valley Trekking in Kathmandu and proceed to airport for outbound flight back from Nepal. If we have time before our flight back we will explore local markets of Kathmandu on our own if not we will proceed to airport straightaway. We are sure that it's not our last time in Nepal, see you again Himalayas! (Breakfast)

Balthali Village Treks is an easy trek near Kathmandu valley. Even beginners without any trekking experience in the past can do the trek without any troubles. This trekking is suitable for everyone looking for short and easy trekking route near Kathmandu. Balthali Village Trekking is mixed with ups, downs and flats. Ups and downs can be painful trouble for people with knee problems so it is suggested that you carry some knee support with you. Balthali Village Trek is also suitable for families with small kids or senior citizens looking for easy hikes that is not troubling. It requires no special or superman power. Without giving much pain to your body, it is confirmed that this trekking will leave some beautiful memories in your holiday. However this route is going to be more fun with some minor trainings or walking practices at home or basic walking experiences in the past. If you want to have some practice for the trek then you can climb stairs or walk around the hills if there are any available near your place. These involves some exercises to your knee that will help a lot during the trekking. If you have regular practice of walking in the mountains or hilly regions then Balthali Village Trekking is going to be a lot easier and worry free.

Meals on Trek

Balthali village Treks include high standard lodges and hotels almost in all places so you will have options to eat variety of western meals during the trek. Hotels and resorts in Dhulikhel and Balthali serve wide variety of meals so there is absolutely no need to worry about meals. Both Balthali and Dhulikhel are popular tourist destinations near Kathmandu valley. You will have menu everytime before you have to order your meal. Various meals including noodles, soups, handmade breads, rice items, curries, spaghetti, pizza, egg items, potatoes, chicken meats are served on the trek. You will have full options or freedom to select your preferred items from the menu provided by the hotel / resort. Meals in the mountain tastes awesome as raw materials are also freshly prepared before cooking or after the management receives food order in most of the cases.

Breakfasts are included even in Kathmandu at your hotel. You will have a menu to select your meal or foods will be served in buffet system. The hotel itself will select the appropriate method depending on the volume of customers.


Accommodation in Kathmandu will be standard hotel. We will accommodate you in 3 star category hotel. You will be accommodated in an air conditioned room. We provide one double room for two customers ( unless you are single customer ). These rooms will have either master bed or two single beds. If you have special preference on bed selection then please inform us in advance, we will try to book the room appropriate for your stay.

We provide twin sharing rooms for your holiday. Balthali Village Trek has nice and standard accommodation available during the whole trek. Both Balthali and Dhulikhel has high standard lodges and resorts available for visitors. We will accommodate you in a nice hotel or lodge during the trek. A double bedroom will be shared between two people in general. One thing great about Balthali Trek is that high standard accommodation is available in the whole route. You will have options to select either double beds or master beds. Even on the trekking one room will be accommodating two trekkers unless you are single trekker. Even if you are traveling in a group and prefer single room then upon paying single supplement charges we will try our best to provide you single rooms. If we are unable to provide single rooms then we will refund your single supplement charges.

Best Season

Balthali Village Treks is a low altitude trekking route very close to Kathmandu valley. This trekking can be done throughout the year however January to May and October to December is better time comparing the monsoon months; i.e. June, July, August and September though trekking is still doable in this region. During best months the sky is generally crystal clear, the views are inspiring and the weather is breath taking. During monsoon season the trails are full of leeches which can be very inconvenient for many trekkers. During this period it rains frequently in the late afternoon, night and early morning that leaves the trail wet and slippery as well. March to April is the months of blossoming season of many flowers that can be spotted from few places, simply looks very beautiful on the trail. From October to December you will see more greens in the forest. There is no single best time for Balthali Treks, a visitor can make the trek throughout the year. Monsoon is not recommended as the trails can be slippery and muddy.

This trek needs various equipment and gears however these list can vary depending on your fitness, experience, health conditions etc. Please consult with us if you have any confusions. We tried our best to list down most gears needed for the trek. All the gears might not be required for all trekkers. Please select the appropriate items from the list below. This list is for your valued information only. A majority of gears can be purchased in Kathmandu though the quality can be compromised. Most gears found in local markets are produced in China so the quality might not be as you expect. Some branded shops like The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, Sherpa Adventure Gear, Anta, Quechua etc. can be purchased in Kathmandu as well however there is no guarantee that you will find the equipment you are looking for in Kathmandu so we suggest you to get your gears in your home country where possible.
