Lhakpa RI Expedition

Situated on the opposite of Everest North Face, Lhakpa RI Peak (7,045M / 23,113FT) is known as easier cousin of world's tallest point; Mount Everest. Lhakpa RI Peak climbing is known as one of the easiest above 7,000M peak climbing. Lhakpa RI Peak divides Rongbuk and Kharta Glaciers in Tibetan plateau. The trail from Rongbuk Monastery heads towards Advance Base Camp at an altitude of (6,350M / 20,833FT) crossing the popular Friendship Highway; Tibet. Here we will be sitting below North Col (7,000M / 22,965FT). Lhakpa RI Peak was climbed for the first time on 1921 by George Mallory and team, since then a lot of climbers have touched the summit. We will follow Kathmandu- Zhangmu – Nyalam - Tingri and Everest Base Camp - Lhakpa Ri Base Camp (5200M / 17,060FT) - Summit following Friendship Highway. As we will be reaching high altitude within few days, proper acclimatization is very important for everyone. Climbers with previous climbing experiences and technical knowledge of using ropes and ice axes will find the Lhakpa RI Climbing pretty feasible. Lhakpa RI Expedition can be taken as high altitude difficult trekking. Lhakpa RI is featured in Lucy Walker's popular documentary, 'Blind sight: Himalayas - The Summit of Happiness'.
