ABC Mardi Trek FAQ

The best time to trek these routes is during the pre-monsoon (Jan to May) and post-monsoon (September to December) seasons. During these months, the weather is clear, and the views are spectacular, with mild temperatures suitable for trekking.

This trek is considered moderate in difficulty. It requires a reasonable level of fitness, as it involves long days of walking and gradual ascents to higher altitudes. Previous trekking experience is helpful but not mandatory.

While the route is well-marked, it is highly recommended to trek with a guide for safety, navigation, and to enhance your cultural experience. Having a local guide also ensures better acclimatization and support in case of emergencies.

The highest point of the trek is Annapurna Base Camp, located at an altitude of 4,130 meters (13,549 feet). Mardi Himal Base Camp reaches 4,500 meters (14,764 feet).

Yes, you will need two permits for this trek: the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card. These can be obtained in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

The trek typically takes 15 days, including the arrival and departure days in Kathmandu. This duration allows for proper acclimatization and exploration of both the Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal routes. Himalayan Leisure can customize the route as per your needs.

Accommodation will primarily be in teahouses (lodges) along the route. These are basic but comfortable with shared rooms. In higher altitudes, facilities may be more limited, but the lodges offer essential services like meals and hot drinks. We will provide private rooms in most places however Deurali, Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal High Camp has limited number of lodges available and you may need to share the room with other travelers.

Wi-Fi is available in some teahouses, but it may be slow and unreliable, especially at higher altitudes. Mobile reception is available in most villages, though it can be weaker as you go higher. In most cases, the tea houses charge extra for using WiFi.

You should pack lightweight, moisture-wicking clothes, a good pair of trekking boots, a sleeping bag, a jacket for cold weather, a water bottle, trekking poles, and a first aid kit. Don’t forget your sun protection, camera, and personal items.

Yes, altitude sickness is a potential risk as you ascend to altitudes over 4,000 meters (13,000 feet). It is essential to acclimatize properly by following a slow ascent, staying hydrated, and listening to your body. If you experience symptoms, descend immediately and seek medical help.

Stunning Trails and Peaceful Mountains

The ABC and Mardi Himal combined trek was one of the best trips I have ever done. The Annapurna Base Camp part was lively and full of trekkers, while Mardi Himal felt quiet and untouched. This mix made the journey very special. The mountain views, especially Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South, were unforgettable.

The trekking days were well planned and not too rushed. Accommodation and food were better than I expected in the mountains. Everything ran smoothly from start to end, and I always felt safe and well supported. I highly recommend this combined trek for anyone who wants variety and beautiful scenery.

Perfect Combination of Annapurna and Mardi Himal

The ABC and Mardi Himal combined trek was absolutely amazing. It gave me the best of both worlds—popular trails with great facilities on the Annapurna Base Camp side and peaceful, less-crowded paths on the Mardi Himal route. The views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and the surrounding peaks were breathtaking every single day.

The itinerary was well balanced, with enough time to enjoy the scenery and rest properly. Everything was well organized from start to finish, including lodges, meals, and daily walking distances. The team made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe throughout the trek.
