What to Expect

The trek is suitable for people of all age groups and with all needs. It’s not necessary to be very fit for this trek however a person with a minimum fitness level who can walk 5-6 hours each day is expected to join this route. This is considered as one of the easy-level trekking routes of Nepal.
This is a complete tea house / lodge-based trekking route. We will be eating and sleeping in the lodges. The highest altitude we sleep is slightly below 2900 meters. Our leaders will do the best to accommodate you and make you comfortable while on the journey.

Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel (1310M / 30 minutes)

Welcome to the city of temples and the country of Himalayas. Our airport representative will be waiting for your arrival with a name card written your name. We will transfer you to the hotel. We will introduce you with the tour leader and have a short meeting about the tour. (No meals)

Day 02Drive to Pokhara (820M / 8 Hours)

We will take breakfast at our hotel and catch our bus to Pokhara. This is approximately 8 hours drive through the beautiful hillsides, the towering Himalayas and thundering rivers, and pilgrimages alongside the road. In the evening, we will be visiting the lakeside area if time permits.
It is recommended to fly to Pokhara if you are looking for a comfortable way of traveling. It’s about 20-25 minutes of flight. (Breakfast)

Day 03Drive to Nayapul (1,070M / 1 hour), trek to Tikhedhunga (1,540M / 3 - 4 Hours)

We will take an approximately 1-hour drive to Nayapul; the trek starting and ending point of this trail. It will be a scenic drive with beautiful views of Annapurna and Lamjung Himalayan ranges. The road passes through green hills, rice paddies, thundering Seti river, and numerous small settlements.
Although we almost ascend for the whole day, the trail is fairly easy. We will cross various small villages like Matathanti, Ramghai, Sudame, and Hille before we reach Tikhedhunga. We will have a free evening to rest and relax. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 04Trek to Ghorepani (2860M / 5 - 6 Hours)

We cross Bhurundi Khola (stream) and then start ascending steep climbing to reach the top of Ulleri village. Then we will follow gentle ascending through beautiful Rhododendron and Oak forests. We will stop in the Nangethanti for lunch which is situated in the middle of the forests.
One of the main attractions of our trek; Ghorepani is a beautiful village with panoramic views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. Ghorepani will serve us with stunning views of Himalayas are served. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 05Climb Poon Hill (3210M / 2 Hours), trek to Tadapani (2590M / 5 Hours)

We will climb to Poon Hill before sunrise to observe golden rays over the Himalayas. Poon Hill is a stunning viewpoint where more than 300 trekkers visit every day during the main season. From here we will be enjoying close views of numerous peaks including Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, V, Dhampus Peak, Nilgiri, Barahsikhar, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail, etc.
Upon returning to Ghorepani village, we will catch a warm breakfast and then start heading towards Tadapani. It’s going to be a beautiful day with immense views of the Himalayas throughout the walk. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 06Trek to Ghandruk (1940M / 4 Hours)

We will be taking the downhill trail through Rhododendron and Oak forests with occasional views of wild animals. The whole day is companied by beautiful Himalayan peaks such as Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Fishtail peak. It’s approximately 4 hours downhill walk.
Ghandruk is the biggest Gurung village in the region. This is also known as the stone carved village. In the evening we will visit the Ghandruk Cultural Museum to explore traditional and culturally significant things. Ghandruk village is also famous for the brave Gurkha soldiers.

Day 07Trek to Nayapul (5 - 6 Hours), drive to Pokhara (820M / 1 Hour)

The trail is mostly downhill and flat on this day. On the first part, we will be walking through stone steps before reaching Syauli Bazaar. From here we will start walking on dirt motor road passing Chimrong and Birenthanti before we reach Nayapul. We will take a private transport from Nayapul to Pokhara.

Day 08Drive to Kathmandu (1310M / 8 Hours)

We will follow the same highway through beautiful rivers, hills and small Nepalese settlements. The drive will take about 8 hours to drop us in Kathmandu. Form the tourist bus park you will be transferred to the hotel. In the evening you can explore the town probably buying souvenirs for friends and family members. (Breakfast)

Day 09Drive to airport, departure from Kathmandu (30 minutes)

We will drive you to the airport approximately 3 hours before your flight time. The airport is small and has only 1 terminal. It’s time to say goodbye until we meet again! (Breakfast)

I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

Our prices are different based on a number of people traveling together. The per pax price varies based on the total number of people traveling together in the same group. For example, the price for 1 person and the total price for 2 people is different. So, the price you see at the time of making the reservation is the final. We do not charge an additional amount for the single traveler.

Which currency is accepted on this tour?

We accept all major currencies such as USD, EUR, CAD, AUD, SGD, MYR, GBP, THB, CHF, JPY, HKD, etc. Credit card payments are accepted only in USD. We also accept bank transfers, direct remittance services (Western Union, Moneygram), etc.

What is the best time and season?

March – May, and September – December are considered the best months for trekking in Nepal. Trekking is doable throughout the year however some months are better than others. June – August is monsoon season so there might be some rain showers in these months. January – February is winter months and it’s usually much cold in higher areas. The trek is run throughout the year.

What is the cancellation policy?

The trek has free cancellation 30 days before departure. Any cancellations received within 30 days of departure will incur 15% cancellation fees.

How are the meals and accommodation like?

We will be eating and sleeping in the lodges for the whole trek (Day 3 to Day 7). Generally, rice, noodles, pasta, vegetables, curry, potatoes, eggs, sandwich, burgers, etc. are available.
The lodges will have twin sharing rooms. In most cases, we will provide you a private room however in rare cases you may need to share the rooms with other travelers (especially if you are traveling alone).
In Kathmandu and Pokhara, we will accommodate you at 3 star category hotel with complimentary breakfast.

Do I need to be physically fit?

Very good question. We welcome anyone even without any previous trekking experiences on this trek however average physical fitness will add advantage. This is considered as one of the easy treks in Nepal. If you do not have previous hiking experiences but still if you have no problem walking for 6-8 hours every day, then we are happy to take you on board.
If you are average fit then most of our treks are doable by you. If you are not sure whether you are fit or not then please consult with our travel experts.

Can we do this trek with kids?

The trek is doable by families and people with small kids. We take bookings for people over 6 years old. Please consult with us if you have any confusions.

Are the guides experienced? Are they licensed?

We have very experienced guides at the company. We have guides experienced for at least 7 years to 22 years. All our guides are Ministry of Tourism trained and licensed by Nepal Government.

Meals and Accommodation:

This is completely tea house based trek hence we will be sleeping and eating in the lodges. In Kathmandu, we provide 3 start category hotel accommodation with breakfast and it will be standard lodges while on the trek. The lodges on the trek will be mostly shared bathroom / shared toilet while in 1/2 places we may provide you rooms with private toilet.

The meals on the trek will be mostly locally prepared using local ingredients most of the time. Kathmandu offers a wide selection of meals in basic to high standard luxury lounges. On the trek, the number of meal items will be limited to a small number.

Best season

This is an easy-level trekking route. This trekking can be done throughout the year however February to May and September to December are better months comparing to other months i.e. June, July, August, January, etc. During best months the sky is generally crystal clear, the views are breathtaking and the weather is lovely as well. March to April is the months of blossoming season of rhododendron and many other flowers which looks very beautiful lush of green forests. From October to December you will see more green forests in the area. As this is the ultimate adventure of your life we recommend you to plan the trek properly and during best months though Himalayan Leisure, Inc. will be able to arrange your trip throughout the year.
